The Yamazaki Mazak Museum of Art is home to outstanding collections of French works of art.
The fifth floor displays paintings of the Rococo, Romanticism, Neoclassicism, Realism, Impressionism and the Ecole de Paris, presenting the history of French art for 300 years from the 18th to the 20th century.
The center of art moved from Italy to France in the 18th century, when paintings became more sophisticated and the ‘feminine,’ ’elegant’ , and ’ hedonistic’ Rococo style was born out of Baroque art.
These Rococo paintings are the basis of the collection of The Yamazaki Mazak Museum of Arts.
Thus, the key factor which led France to be called the ‘center of art’ is also the key starting point of our 1st Anniversary Museum Collection.
